Mistake #1: Don’t copy content – Offer original content
Copying content from other websites and pasting it in the website – this is the common mistake that many businesses do; may be because it does not require any effort from their end. But by doing so you are not only killing the credibility of your site among your visitors, but also are making it get penalized by search engines.
A person looking to purchase a product/service may research on internet to get some idea. In the process, he may review few sites on the related topic. If he finds that you copied content from other sites, he will lose trust on your website. He will surely not appreciate it and will never think of coming back to your site.
It is therefore, very important that you don’t copy content and rather keep your business blog original and unique. Being original gives you the opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in your niche and build readers’ trust in you.
Mistake #2: Neglecting your niche audience
This is the biggest mistake many make while writing for their business blog. If you write something that is not relevant or specific to your business and targeting the wrong audience, how can you expect conversions and sales?
To keep your niche audience captivated, first identify them. Then see what they are looking for? After you know who you’re niche audiences are, you should share your expertise, knowledge, opinions and thoughts with them and this will be very helpful for your visitors.
Mistake #3: Not having a proper blogging schedule
If you don’t update your blog regularly with new blog posts, your audiences will start losing interest in your blog. If you plan well and set a post date for your blog, people are likely to return again and again to read what you have to say.
Schedule it in a way, that you publish a minimum of 4 blog posts in a month. The more frequent you publish, the more will you attract new visitors and retain repeat visitors. That means more chances for you to increase traffic to your blog every time you publish a new blog post.
Mistake #4: Not checking for grammatical and spelling errors
Now that you have understood the common mistakes that you do while blogging, this is one such mistake, if you neglect will not only put your readers off, but it will also negatively affect your search engine rankings.
Make sure that you edit, review and proofread the blog thoroughly and check for grammatical and spelling errors to make it error free before you publish it in your site.
Mistake #5: Giving more importance to images than content
Sometimes, we focus on having more images in a single blog post, which is not a good idea. Your blog should have more of content and less of images. People come to your blog post to get some information and if they find very less content which is not serving their purpose, then they will consider your site to be untrustworthy.
It’s not that you should not give importance to images, images are important, but see to it that the images are complementing the content, not dominating.
If you give your blog the time, effort and attention, you will surely avoid making these 5 mistakes. Make sure you don’t repeat these mistakes. Businesses that learn from their mistakes are the ones that will succeed!
